Mom used to make these at Christmas time, but she always doubled the recipe and did it in a 9" x 13" pan.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
To create cookie base:
Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Set aside. Cream brown sugar, butter and peanut butter together in medium bowl. Add flour mixture and stir well. Press mixture into an ungreased 9"x9" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes. Cool.
To make frosting:
Heat shortening, butter, bittersweet chocolate and milk until mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar (around 2 cups or so) until thick.
Frost cooled base and cut into bars.
The base of this cookie will be rather crumbly, as these taste like frosted peanut butter shortbread cookies.
